Stand Your Ground
Ephesians 6
Ephesians 6:13-14 says, Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore...
As I read through the list of spiritual armor provided to me by God I notice nothing there designed to protect my backside. I see a breastplate but no butt-plate! Could it be that the Lord is trying to send a message? We must stop turning tail and running like some lily-livered, yellow-spined coward every time there is a serious challenge to our faith.
We know that more tough days are ahead. We know that discouragement will come. We know that there will be dry spells in our walk with Jesus. We know that temptation will assail us. We know that we will face tragedy and the premature death of a loved one. And yet, so many times we throw up our hands in surrender to the enemy, failing to fight the fight of faith with honor because we lose sight of our mission objective.
John 16:33 says, These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world
Our mission objective is not victory. Victory has already been won by Christ.
We fight to run up the score.
With victory secured, why should we fear? With victory secured, where is the sting of death? With victory secured, why give in to temptation? With victory secured, why not risk it all? The knowledge of certain victory should make us want to buck up and stand firm in the face of any trial. With Jesus our leader and eternity our sure reward, what place does fear have in the Army of the Living God? Today, let us make war with confidence. Strength and Honor!
